What Is it?
Project-44 farm is a 4 acre farm that produces USDA organic produce to give to the community.
Project-44 would like to introduce a concept in caring for needs of others, both spiritually and physically. Our idea is simple; we grow wholesome organic produce and provide it to families in need by being in direct relationship with those we are aiding. We call this GSA. God Supported Agriculture. There are two methods by which we make this happen. The first is through supporting local faith-based programs, working with them to meet the needs of those they serve. The second method is through direct sponsorship of families by individuals.
Project-44 Farm exists to fulfill the physical and spiritual needs of people in Hood, Tarrant, and surrounding counties. We grow organic vegetables for distribution to families in need and work with Churches and other non-profits to help those who need it most.
We are striving to find a way to be the hands and feet of Christ in immediate and real ways. In 2011 we started several community gardens around the Tarrant County area, finished a 4,500 square foot greenhouse, and completed our first year of harvests at our farm. Project-44 has produced thousands of pounds of produce weekly over the last few years. The largest portion of food goes directly to hungry and needy families in our community. In 2014, we completed a 60X20 ft hydroponic tank that provides an additional 70,000 pounds of produce per year. Most recently we completed an additional hydroponic tank, nearly doubling the amount of produce (mostly lettuce) that can be grown in the tanks in the greenhouse.
We are in need of volunteers to aid in our service to others. We need volunteers to help harvest and care for our crops. We are flexible and available to meet your needs either as a group or on an individual basis. We also encourage our volunteers to share in the harvest, especially if they know someone who is in need and would like to bring them food and share the Love that Christ has given us!
